Pitch Report: There’s a bit of grass on one end, while the other end is pretty bare. Both captains wanted to bowl and that’s because of the freshness in the air and the freshness on this particular surface. 80 games played here and the team batting second has won more often than not. But in the last 10, six games have been won batting first. It’s interesting that all of them feel that this surface is better than the practice wicket. It does look good but you need to apply yourself because it’s going to be a bit slow coming on initially. As the day gets on, it’ll be good for batting.
Dasun Shanaka: We would have bowled first if we had won the toss. The wicket was up and down (in the warm-up game) but it was not the center wicket. I expect a better wicket today. It offers some assistance for the spinner in the latter part of the game. Chameera is not fit, we got seven batters and four genuine bowlers.
Muhammad Waseem: We are going to bowl first. There’s some moisture on the pitch, we’ll try to restrict them to a low total. We are looking for early wickets. Preparation is very good, we’ll try to keep that momentum in this game as well. We take some positives from that game (T20 World Cup game against SL). We have gone with a good combination.
